I have an existing solar system of 10kw connected to Wattwatchers and Charge HQ.
I have now added a 6.6kw Sungrow system.
I reconfigured Charge HQ to see the Sungrow system (which can also see my existing system) but Charge HQ does not see all my solar production anymore and hence is not taking use of all my solar production.
Hi @garybickford . If I understand correctly, the Sungrow app can see your old 10 kW solar as well, but Charge HQ can’t see it via the Sungrow connection. This can’t be fixed, but despite this Charge HQ should actually work correctly: the consumption in Charge HQ should go negative when the 10 kW solar is generating.
However, I can also see that your Sungrow system can not see when your EV is charging. Charge HQ also supports this, but you need to enable the “Consumption Excludes Charging” setting - this is not automatically enabled. See Consumption Excludes Charging setting for more details.
I think you are correct. It’s just that the Sungrow iSolarCloud app and the Charge HQ app are telling me different things and I don’t know who to believe.
Here are a couple of screen shots.
I have also contacted Wattwatchers to see if I can add watwattchers to the SunGrow system and then use Charge HQ to connect with wattwatchers rather than SunGrow - I don’t know if this would be better than the current configuration. The Sungrow installers are not very helpful.
@garybickford Wattwatchers may provide the best outcome for Charge HQ because:
it provides much faster data updates to Charge HQ than Sungrow (60 seconds vs 5 minutes)
it should be able to monitor both your solar systems, assuming you have enough CT clamps. This will depend on whether you have a 3 channel or 6 channel Wattwatchers device, and also whether you have 3 phase power or not.
We have a 6W as we have poor mobile phone coverage but Charge HQ no longer builds a 6W. So their team is looking at what else we might do. No response as yet.
Apparently now we need to buy the extra CT clamps. I don’t know how many we need for the SunGrow system. We have single phase.
I am hopeful for a solution soon. Frustrating of course!
I am currently staying with my sister for three weeks. She has a Sungrow system. Can i add this to charge HQ under my account or do i need a new separate account?
Any instructions would be helpful as so far I can not do this.
I can see from the logs that you’ve disconnected your own Sungrow system and have been trying to reconnect using the inverter’s serial number. You need to use the comms device serial number instead, not the inverter.
