Control charge rate so grid import is minimized

With solar tracking, charge rate equals the inverter output when solar only/solar reference is selected. When any additional load occurs, grid import and not solar generation must cover this new demand.

I would like to see an additional reference of grid import. This would reduce charge rate such that grid import equals zero. Thus, house loads would be prioritized over EV charging. This increases overall self generation usage and reduces net metering power exchanges.

@alwarner66 Charge HQ does support charging from excess solar only, when there is an energy meter present.

In your case, there appears to be a SolarEdge energy meter present, however the data being returned for your SolarEdge meter appears to be incorrect. There may be a problem with the setup of your SolarEdge system.

If you can post a screenshot of your SolarEdge monitoring showing the power flows for one day (ie the Day view), it should make things clearer.

Hello Jay
Went to your support page on excess solar … just what I wanted.

As to the grid meter necessary for excess solar (no battery), it’s not installed yet. Will get to it soon. I see I have to unlink and relink the new inverter setup for the new data transfer.

Thanks
