EV Charging from Home Battery with Floor SOC and Dynamic Rate Limit

I would like to request a feature enhancement to enable scheduled EV charging directly from the home battery, with controls for minimum discharge level and inverter capacity.

Feature details

  1. Battery floor setting: Allow the user to define a minimum state of charge (SOC) for the home battery so EV charging automatically stops when that SOC is reached. This ensures the battery only discharges to a specified level, for example 30 percent, preserving battery health and maintaining reserve capacity for household loads.

  2. Dynamic charge rate limiting: Enable real time adjustment of the EV charge rate so that the combined inverter output from EV charging and home load never exceeds the inverter’s rated capacity. This would prevent overloading the inverter and optimise battery performance.

  3. Schedule control: Provide the option to configure a schedule where the EV draws only from the home battery within a defined time window. For example, from 11pm to 6am, the EV could charge exclusively from the home battery until the battery SOC reaches 30 percent, while ensuring the total inverter output remains below 5 kW by dynamically adjusting the charge rate based on current home load.

This capability would be especially useful for systems using hybrid or AC coupled inverters where users aim to maximise battery utilisation and minimise grid imports overnight.

Thank you for considering this feature. It would make ChargeHQ even more capable for integrated solar, storage and EV charging management.
