I have a three phase solar PV system with two generations of equipment. Specifically I have a SolarEdge SE8K inverter (no monitoring) and a Fronius Symo Gen24+ (with Fronius Smart Meter) and BYD HVM battery. The SolarEdge system simply generates energy and either consumes it or exports it to the grid, while the Fronius can also charge the home battery and monitor the energy flows using its smart meter. These two systems are A/C coupled. This often means that whilst I have insufficient solar being produced by the panels connected to the Fronius for ChargeHQ to trigger charging my EV, I’m still exporting significant amounts of energy to the grid. Would it not be better to make the decision on whether to charge or not based on the amount of energy being exported to the grid rather than the amount of energy being generated by solar?
