Grid first charging schedule

Hello. I’m trying to configure CHQ app to create a grid first charging schedule. This is using a solar system with a Powerwall battery, a Wallbox charger to a VW idBuzz. I’ve followed instructions to do so but the CHQ app still pulls power out of my Powerwall and not the grid. I really don’t want to burn thru my Powerwall charging my car overnight. Any suggestions besides getting a Tesla car?.

TIA
Mark

Specifically asked Google AI this question:

“is is there a way to configure the charge HQ app so that it charges my non Tesla ev from the grid before it pulls electricity from my battery”

Hi @mgm2k2 , thanks for your post.

For more info about avoiding discharging your Powerwall into your EV, please see Guide for preventing the Tesla Powerwall Home Battery from being used for EV Charging

Thanks for your response. However, setting up timebase control is a bit of a hassle and not really what I wanna do. I’d like to have more flexibility than that by being able to charge whenever I want. My workaround is just to switch the power wall into 100% back up mode when I want to charge my EV and make sure that the power wall isn’t being used to charge it. to be honest the charge HQ app isn’t probably going to be that useful for me since I’m a non-Tesla EV owner and I’ll probably go ahead and cancel the solar subscription since it doesn’t seem to really work right for me.

Now if you guys could just simply add a control that stops the battery from being used at all for ev charging, that would be great. However in my experimenting so far, the two different solar tracking modes (Solar only and Solar plus grid) don’t really work that way. Solar only might work ok for not using the battery but then I have the issue of it cutting out at lower levels of solar availability because of the somewhat high level of minimum charge for non Tesla evs.
