Intermittent - charge schedule not working

Hi all.

I usually charge my car from my solar, but I do have a schedule set up for overnight Sunday charging for when my solar charging hasn’t sufficed.

The issue I’m facing, is once every 5-10 charges, with the vehicle plugged in and the charger online all devices communicating, the charger doesn’t start. It will simply sit in ‘initialising charging’ mode. The rare times I’ve been able to spot the problem, I have to unplug and reset everything, then it will charge as it should.

As my time of use tariff makes from 10pm to 6am the cheapest time to charge, this can be especially annoying when I go to bed thinking my car will be charged the following morning due to the schedule, only to find it never started and the car is empty.

Has anyone had an intermittent problem like this and found any solution?

@leehindley001 if you describe your equipment (charger type, vehicle type, how Charge HQ is controlling charging) then the community might be able to offer some advice.

My god you’re dead right. Apologies i clearly should have noted that from the beginning.

Car - Volvo XC40 recharge twin
Charger - ZJ Beny OCPP 7kW charger
Inverter - Sungrow.

I installed all of this myself as I run a solar installation company here in Canberra.

I’ve never had any functional issue with ChargeHQ, all the data has always been correct and so on, it simply has been this intermittent issue of not automatically starting when scheduled. I’ve also seen it plugged in whilst there’s plenty of excess solar and not automatically start.

On my Volvo, the car will state ‘initialising’ when the charger is connected, but not charging.

Hope this helps.

If you can provide a date and time when this happened we can analyse the logs. Cheers.

I know 1 day in particular was the 15th of September. The car was plugged in that night, then the morning of the 16th we found it hadn’t charged over that night as it is scheduled to do so.

I’ve downloaded the stats from the charging of that day but it only provides the bit of solar charging that was done, no other information from that night
