I am using both the Charge HQ app and the Amber electricity app. I had Solar curtailment turned on in the Amber app and Solar tracking in the Charge HQ app. These two setting appear to conflict with each other. As curtailment reduces solar based on the house demand and solar tracking uses excess solar. As a result on sunny days my solar was providing only what was being demanded by my house. And solar tracking was not ‘aware’ that there was excess solar going to waste. I have since switched off solar curtailment in the Amber app, but my system still seems to be behaving the same way. If I select ‘charge now’ in Charge HQ my system will use all the available solar plus energy from the grid. I am trying find the right setting that lets me curtail excess solar only after I have charged my car to the vehicle charge limit. Using Amber app, Charge HQ app, vehicle is a Tesla Model Y, 8.97kW solar system, Batter: Sungrow SBR16016kWh
Amanda, Charge HQ can only see what the solar inverter is producing, not what it could produce if it were not curtailed.
You could try setting a small negative solar tracking margin. The configuration is similar to off-grid setups, more details here:
Thank you very much for your help. I have tried the small negative solar tracking margin. The was other useful advice in the linked article. Much appreciated.
