I’m having trouble getting solar tracking to work, I have paired Charge HQ with my Tesla and with my AlphaESS battery system. On “Auto” with Solar Tracking enabled, Charge HQ does not initiate charging, even when excess solar is available. The app is currently saying 4.4 kW usable solar, but then also says “Waiting for solar generation”.
My only thought is that because our solar inverter is not linked to the battery, the Charge HW app sees the solar generation as 0kW, even when exporting to the grid. Would this be the cause?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
@obrnat104 you are correct: Charge HQ does not handle zero generation by default. If you change Settings → Solar Tracking → Min Solar Generation to zero it should work correctly.
Note that if you select Solar + Grid mode it will keep charging all night because it uses solar generation to know when to stop otherwise. Using Solar Only mode will work as expected, and will stop when excess solar is below the minimum charge rate.
