Tesla charges on solar only with house battery priority and solar only resulting in massive grid draw

I have a REA power battery inverter (rebadged Alpha ESS SMILE G3 B5). I connected ChargeHQ very easily with the AlphaESS method. 2017 Model X with Gen 2 wall connector.

ChargeHQ app matches what the battery app reports for Solar production, Battery level and charge rate, House load and grid import/export. House load on the battery app shows combined EV and house kW, Charge HQ shows seperate house and car kW load, but add up to match. It also matches charge rate with the Tesla app.

In AUTO, with solar only, battery priority and excess solar reference ChargeHQ willl start EV charging the Tesla, often so much it is discharging the battery and drawing from the grid. It has also ramped up to the cars max charge rate drawing 13kW from the grid over what the battery and solar can supply.

I have tried changing all the advanced options to no avail. The best i can do is have minimum solar or the margin set to the max charge rate of the house battery, but of course when the house battery is full the car won’t charge with that excess.

The stats page also tracks. ChargeHQ knows it is drawing from the grid and battery.

Where is ChargeHQ getting usable solar from?
Why does charge priority battery not prioritise the battery when it is set to?

After futher random testing I have found that if the Tesla app has 24A charge rate set (set before installing ChargeHQ), there seems to be somewhere a miscommunication between ChargeHQ and the car. I set the Tesla app for minimum, and it seems to be functioning now and adjusting the cars charge rate to match excess solar.
