After working fine for a long time I’m now getting a warning message in the Charge HQ app advising me that I need to allow third-party app data streaming via a menu on the Tesla (2021 MIC M3 SR+ and 2023 M Y RWD). Charge HQ has provided detailed instructions but they don’t match up with the Tesla menu options. I cannot find any option to activate on either car’s menus to allow third party app data streaming. Apparently the older polling arrangements will cease as at September 1. I would very much like Charge HQ to keep working as it is a wonderful tool. Has anyone else dealt with this issue?
Hi Monty. Thanks for your post. Neither of your vehicles require the “Third-party App Streaming” setting, and everything should just keep working. The warnings you are seeing must be errors in the logic, or an intermittent problem on the Tesla API side.
If you are able to provide a date when you see one of these warnings I can investigate further.
Cheers,
Jay.
Thanks Jay. The warning came up this morning when I switched vehicles in the app. It isn’t showing now though.
Great product by the way - Charge HQ is an awesome tool.
I have a 2020 Model X with the latest software (2025.32) and I’ve been getting that message for weeks despite enabling the third party data screaming immediately.
I’ve toggled it, car rebooted with recent software upgrade but message is still there… and today ChargeHQ isn’t working anymore for that car.
Any advice on what troubleshooting steps to next take?
There was a bug in Charge HQ where this “enable data streaming” warning was displayed incorrectly after switching Tesla vehicles. This has been fixed today.
Thanks Jay, after my messages I managed to get it working for a few days rebooting the car and also removing/re-adding permissions for chargeHQ in my Tesla account. I was still getting the message temporarily but it was then mostly working.
Today… I assume you made more than a cosmetic change because I am not getting the banner but the communication with the car isn’t working, it’s stuck on waiting for tesla vehicle data.
Hi @Broc . The change made yesterday was only cosmetic. Looking at the logs, it appears there was a problem waking your vehicle after selecting it, which may explain why it was stuck “waiting for data” for so long. Hopefully it won’t keep happening. Cheers.
I also have a Model X and the scheduled charging has not been working since the streaming changes. If I start charging manually the Solar Charging “load” adjustments seem to work ok, but it definitely won’t start on it’s own
It has been a bit spotty for me since the streaming changes, it sometimes works and sometime doesn’t which is frustrating and makes it harder to pinpoint issues… no problems in the last 3 days though so hopefully it stays that way! I find that sometimes I check the app and see it not charging but just the app opening itself is enough to trigger it to try again and get it to start charging.
